JOB DESCRIPTION

At GDIT, people are our differentiator. As a Technical Manager, you will have overall accountability for technology planning, optimization, service evolution and innovation of services. The Technical Manager will serve as the single point of accountability for the customer concerning performance and incident management of cloud technology. Our work depends on an experienced Technical Manager to bring forward industry leading technical direction and innovation. The ideal Technical Manager projects high energy, strong customer facing interpersonal skills and possesses attention to detail in a time-bound schedule to properly position the O&M team for successful operations.

HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:

  • Lead a team of architect, engineers, and project managers to design, build and deploy IT infrastructure solutions and upgrades on a large government program.

  • Participate in planning and designing systems to meet the evolving needs of the business.

  • Provide human resource, technical, and process leadership for the team to identify and implement opportunities for service enhancements.

  • Manages and prioritizes information systems needs and analyzes project costs and feasibilities through the user of Architecture Review Boards (ARB’s) and Business Case Analysis.

  • Keeps well-informed of new technologies and industry leading practices and trends, using those to plan and advise for implementation.

  • Provides guidance and solutions to ensure the information systems needs align with the strategic initiatives.

  • Develops and administers schedule and performance requirements.

  • Enhances information systems by identifying information systems technology opportunities and developing application strategies.

  • Maintains accounts, security, workflows, and secure systems connectivity.

  • Manages all information systems policies and procedures.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED

  • Education: Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science, preferably in computer engineering, computer science, information systems, or related field of study

  • Required Experience: 10+ years of related experience.

  • Required Technical Skills:

  • experience with large scale, enterprise IT system O&M, and transition programs

  • experience defining teams and services to meet contractual SLA’s, experience working with cloud technologies (planning and optimization) and supporting foundational architecture technologies.

  • ability to understand high-risk, high-impact, large-scale, complex systems; strong communication skills and an ability to articulate needs and service descriptions to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Preferred Skills:

  • strong, proven experience working within successful enterprise-class environments, service delivery and operations management teams

  • expertise with large scale, enterprise IT system management and monitoring, service delivery, service desk, software and hardware modernization, development, and/or testing efforts

  • expertise in infrastructure, networking, database, application and system security, and/or web technologies

  • ability to identify project risks, perform high level research by talking to team and SMEs (Subject Matter Experts), and develop a mitigation plan

  • ability to run the project meetings and motivate teams to complete tasks on schedule

  • Preferred Certifications:

  • ITIL v3 or v4 (Foundation or better)

  • Cloud certification in at least one of the three major cloud service providers Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Amazon Web Services (AWS), or Microsoft Azure is desired

Location : Hybrid or remote with travel. Expect 25% - 50% on-site in Austin, TX

The likely salary range for this position is $138,550 - $187,450. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
